BCI hosted the second Women Investment Forum in Maputo at the bank’s auditorium. It brought together businesswomen, entrepreneurs, leaders, professionals, investors, and institutional representatives.
In an institutional message, BCI’s Executive Committee President José Furtado said the bank wants to keep contributing so more women can access “resources, knowledge and opportunities” needed to grow.
Furtado described investing in women as supporting the ability to turn “an idea into a business, a business into a source of employment, and an opportunity into a better future for many families”.
At the opening, BCI Commercial Director Tânia Sitoe Zandamela said hosting the event reflects the bank’s view that when you invest in women, you also invest in the development of families, communities, and the country.
BCI said the forum created space for learning, sharing, and connection among participants, with a focus on women’s role in wealth creation, business leadership, and investment decisions in Mozambique and Africa.
Participants discussed topics including leadership, finance, innovation, and business growth.
GBNA President and Founder Jorge Duarte Bruno said participants were united by the conviction that “investing in women is transforming Africa”. He added that the knowledge gained and relationships formed could continue through future decisions and opportunities.
BCI said hosting the forum fits its commitment to financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and women’s participation in economic development, and noted this is the year the bank celebrates 30 years of history in Mozambique.
