Anees Health Closes Seed Round for Elder Care in Egypt

Anees Health has closed a seed round of undisclosed size. The Egyptian healthtech startup will use it to scale its coordinated care model for older and chronically ill patients.

What Happened

Anees Health says it runs a care coordination model where one medical team manages a patient from first contact until their condition is stable.

The startup is built around geriatric medicine, which focuses on healthcare for older adults. In practice, it uses family doctors to coordinate input from specialists, plus services such as nursing, physiotherapy, and pharmacy.

Anees Health is targeting patients who are older, living with chronic disease, or recovering through rehabilitation. It also offers longevity plans, which are longer-term programmes aimed at maintaining physical and cognitive function.

The company argues the gap in Egypt is not access to individual services like doctors, labs, or pharmacies. It is the lack of a single, accountable care plan across those services. Anees Health assigns each case one responsible doctor who leads the care team.

Since launch, Anees Health says it has delivered more than 1,000 medical and care services, mostly via referrals. It also reports that about 70% of patients stay on extended care plans after their first visit.

The startup has served patients across four continents, including families managing a relative’s care from outside Egypt.

To support this, it built its own electronic health record system using HL7 FHIR, a common standard for sharing health data between systems, like using a universal file format. The documentation supports Arabic and English.

Why It Matters

Egypt’s older population is rising, which increases demand for continuous care. Government statistics cited by the company put Egypt’s over-60 population at about 9.8 million in 2025, up from 9.3 million in 2024.

If Anees Health can maintain retention while expanding clinical teams and operations, it could become a specialist provider for coordinated elder care, not just a marketplace that lists providers.

The company plans to expand coverage in Cairo and scale its geriatric and care coordination teams. It is targeting capacity of more than 20,000 visits in 2027.
