Nigerian clean-energy startup Acecore won the $10,000 grand prize at TC Battlefield 2026. The award recognised Acecore’s work on locally manufactured solar battery systems.
Acecore presented Powercell, an energy-storage product paired with its Powercore application. Energy storage is equipment that stores electricity for later use, like a battery bank for backup power. Acecore said the product and app combination is designed to help users monitor electricity performance and manage their power supply amid unreliable access to grid electricity.
The competition was sponsored by Yango Group and offered $17,500 in equity-free prizes. Equity-free means the startups receive money without giving up shares.
Supplya placed second and received $5,000. The company helps small retailers source stock and obtain interest-free inventory financing. Navidyn Limited finished third and won $2,500.
The result gives Acecore funding and visibility as it develops its energy technology. The organisers also noted that this was a competition award rather than a venture funding round.
For the participating businesses, the event provided a setting to demonstrate their products to investors and other members of the technology ecosystem.
