SBA5.0 is the fifth International Synthetic Biology and Biosecurity Conference in Africa, organized by SynBio Africa and held in Accra, Ghana, from October 7 to 9, 2026. Under the theme "Resilient Futures: Engineering Biology, AI and Biosecurity for Africa's Sovereign Bioeconomy," it explores how Africa can turn the new global synthetic biology policy framework into national strategies and action. The programme includes high-level policy roundtables and tracks covering agriculture, precision health, industrial biotech, AI and computational biology, biosecurity and bio-entrepreneurship.
The conference is for policymakers, scientists, researchers, industry leaders, bio-entrepreneurs and investors working in biotechnology and related fields. It also welcomes youth innovators and One Health experts interested in shaping Africa's bioeconomy.
