TS Academy hosted TS Connect in Lagos, bringing together 1,400+ students and alumni for in-person networking after months of online tech training.
TS Academy held TS Connect in Lagos, bringing together more than 1,400 students and alumni from its training programmes. TS Academy is an edtech platform, meaning it provides education through digital tools and online learning.
Attendance was limited to members of the TS community. This included learners across different cohorts, such as Novara and Phoenix. Many participants were meeting face to face for the first time after months of learning together online.
Organisers positioned TS Connect as a relaxed, community-first gathering, rather than a stage-heavy tech conference. Attendees spent the day meeting fellow learners, speaking with tutors, and comparing experiences across courses and skill levels.
One attendee said seeing peers make progress, including getting job offers, changed how they viewed their own path. The person added that returning as an alumnus made it clear the programme was not only about classes, it was also about support and relationships.
TS Academy Founder and CEO Adetola Durojaiye said the company created TS Connect after noticing that online learning can limit the sense of belonging that comes with physical meetups.
For many early-career tech professionals, the hardest part is not learning a skill, it is staying consistent, finding mentorship, and hearing what the job market is really like. Community-led events can help bridge that gap by turning online classmates into real-world peer networks.
The Lagos gathering also shows how training providers are investing beyond curriculum. As Nigeria’s tech talent pipeline grows, offline meetups can become a practical tool for retention, referrals, and job readiness.
