Telecel Ghana has launched a new Agent Loyalty Scheme for Telecel Cash agents, aiming to boost participation, compliance, and fraud prevention.
Telecel Ghana has introduced a new loyalty rewards programme for Telecel Cash agents.
The Telecel Agent Loyalty Scheme was announced in Accra at a capacity-building event co-organised with the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MoMAG).
Telecel says the goal is to improve agent participation, strengthen security and compliance, and support Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem.
At a Telecel-MoMAG agent conference in Accra, Telecel Ghana unveiled the Telecel Agent Loyalty Scheme, a rewards programme aimed at mobile money agents and retailers.
Mobile money agents are the people and shops that help customers deposit, withdraw, and send money using a mobile wallet, similar to a cash-in and cash-out point for digital money.
Telecel Ghana’s Chief Operating Officer, Mohamad Ghaddar, said Telecel Cash has delivered double-digit growth over the last year. He also said the company plans to keep investing in security measures to stay ahead of fraud.
The conference brought together more than 400 agents and retailers, alongside regulators, banks, and other industry stakeholders. It ran under the theme “Amplifying Impact: Building a Safe, Trusted & Profitable Agent Network,” with sessions focused on better business performance, stronger security practices, and compliance, meaning following required rules and checks to reduce risks.
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications CEO, Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah, also called for stronger, system-wide fraud prevention. She said security responses should move from fragmented efforts to a shared framework that supports cross-monitoring across stakeholders.
In Ghana’s mobile money market, agents are often the main customer touchpoint. If agents earn consistently and feel supported, they are more likely to keep float, stay active, and deliver better service.
Loyalty and rewards programmes can also be a lever to push better compliance, training, and safer transaction habits. That matters as fraud pressure rises across digital finance.
For Telecel, improving agent retention and trust could help Telecel Cash compete more effectively, especially in high-volume cash-out corridors. For customers, better-run agent networks can mean fewer failed transactions and less exposure to scams.
For the wider ecosystem, the event signals continued focus on the foundations of digital payments, not just new app features. It also shows how telcos, industry groups, and regulators are aligning around fraud prevention and inclusion goals in Ghana.
