Investec says independent non-executive director Vanessa Olver plans to resign from its boards in early 2027 as she moves into an external executive role.
Investec announced a planned future board change across its dual-listed structure, which spans Investec plc and Investec Limited, plus Investec Bank Limited.
Vanessa Olver, an independent non-executive director, told the group she intends to take an executive role outside Investec at the beginning of 2027. A non-executive director is a board member who is not part of day-to-day management, and is expected to provide oversight and challenge.
Olver currently chairs Investec’s Board Risk and Capital Committee. This committee helps the board oversee risk, which is how the bank manages threats like credit losses, operational failures, and market swings. It also oversees capital, meaning the buffers a bank holds to absorb losses and meet regulatory requirements.
Investec said Olver will continue in her director and committee roles until she resigns. The effective resignation date will be confirmed “in due course.”
The group also said it has started succession planning and will make further announcements about board and committee appointments.
Board risk and capital leadership matters more when banks face tighter rules, volatile markets, and higher scrutiny from regulators and investors. A change at the top of risk governance can influence how quickly a bank adjusts its risk appetite, capital allocation, and control processes.
For operators and founders that bank with Investec, this is not an operational change today. But it is a reminder that governance shifts can precede changes in strategy, risk limits, or sector focus over time.
Investec’s early notice, with a lead time into 2027, also signals a controlled transition. That can reduce uncertainty for shareholders in London and Johannesburg, and for teams inside the group who report into board committees.
