Goldrush Group, operator of Gbets, says it will take over South Africa’s national lottery under the Sizekhaya brand from June 2026.
Goldrush Group will become the operator of South Africa’s national lottery under the Sizekhaya brand from June 2026. The company already runs land-based gaming venues and online sports betting across the country.
Goldrush Group says it has been appointed to operate South Africa’s national lottery under the Sizekhaya brand.
The group is best known for alternative gaming, which means regulated gambling outside large casinos, often in smaller venues like bingo halls and sports bars. According to Goldrush Group’s profile published by Goldrush Holdings, the company operates 4,448 Electronic Bingo Terminals, which are computerised bingo machines, across 37 premises in six provinces.
It also runs 2,706 Limited Pay-out Machines, which are low-stakes slot-style machines with capped winnings, across 417 sports bars in seven provinces. On the sports betting side, Goldrush Group has 27 retail betting shops in four provinces and two online sports betting sites.
Goldrush Group also operates Gbets, one of its online sports betting brands. The group uses other brands in some regions, including Goldrush, Bingo Royale, Crazy Slots, Betnova, and G-bets.
Running the national lottery is a large operational and compliance job, not just a marketing play. It involves ticket sales, payments, fraud controls, retail distribution, and reporting to regulators.
For South Africa’s betting and gaming market, the move puts a major private operator in charge of a high-visibility public product. It could also increase competition for consumer spend across lottery tickets, sports betting, and other regulated gaming options.
For operators and suppliers, the shift matters because the lottery touches many parts of the stack, including retail point-of-sale, identity checks, and digital channels. If Sizekhaya expands into stronger online sales over time, it could reshape how lottery participation works in a market where mobile-first payments and app-based betting are already common.
