Individuals find the right products. Businesses reach the right audience. One platform, free for both.
Gabon has launched Kimba Connect, a national innovation platform to link corporate problems with local startup solutions as part of its digital transformation plan.
Kimba Connect is a new national platform in Gabon designed to support collaboration between startups, corporates, investors, incubators, and public institutions. The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation introduced it as part of the country’s wider digital transformation programme.
The ministry says Kimba Connect will work as a matchmaking layer. In simple terms, companies can bring operational or commercial problems, and Gabonese startups can propose tools or services to solve them. This approach is often called open innovation, which means businesses look outside their own teams for new ideas and working solutions.
The launch event brought together government officials, private sector representatives, investors, incubators, startups, and institutional partners. Discussions focused on corporate and startup partnerships, access to financing, and the role of digital technologies in economic development.
Minister Mark-Alexandre Doumba said innovation should respond to practical needs and create lasting connections among businesses, startups, and skilled professionals. The launch also included the signing of several strategic partnership agreements, which the government expects to support new innovation-led projects.
Many African startups struggle to find large, paying customers at home, while large companies often struggle to source and adopt local tech. A platform like Kimba Connect is meant to reduce that gap by making it easier for corporates to discover and work with local founders.
If it succeeds, Kimba Connect could strengthen Gabon’s startup ecosystem, expand demand for locally built software and services, and improve private sector competitiveness. The ministry also positions the initiative as a step toward sustainable growth and building Gabon-based technology companies that can compete nationally and internationally.
