Betika Uganda has unveiled a sh100m sponsorship for newly promoted Ntugasaze FC ahead of its first Uganda Premier League season, plus match awards.
Betika Uganda, part of Betika, has unveiled a sh100m sponsorship package for Ntugasaze FC ahead of the club’s first Uganda Premier League, UPL, campaign.
The deal was announced on August 20, 2026 at Kira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya, Kampala. Club leaders and Betika representatives spoke to the press during the unveiling.
Under the agreement, Betika branding will appear on Ntugasaze match and training apparel. The sponsor will also fund a sh150,000 player-of-the-match award after every game. These awards are small cash bonuses tied to performance and they are meant to motivate players and create more fan attention around each fixture.
Ntugasaze captain Douglas Oyirwoth said the club’s priority is survival in the top flight. He pointed to a familiar risk in many leagues, where newly promoted teams struggle with higher costs, tougher competition, and thin squads, then drop back to the second tier after one season.
For clubs like Ntugasaze, sponsorship money can cover basics that affect results, including player welfare, travel, training equipment, and matchday logistics. In a long league season, predictable funding often matters as much as one-off donations.
For Betika, the partnership is a customer acquisition play. Football sponsorship puts the brand in front of fans every week, while player-of-the-match prizes create recurring moments for media coverage and in-stadium mentions.
The deal also reflects how sports betting companies are becoming key commercial partners in East African football, especially for teams entering top divisions with limited budgets.
