Why did myPadi shut down?

Nigerian student-housing marketplace myPadi (originally Studacom.ng), which had won early awards and raised seed funding from EchoVC in 2018, went functionally dark sometime in 2018-2019 — its site's search, login and registration stopped working and social activity ceased around May 2019 — with Techpoint unable to get a clear answer from the CEO and Crunchbase later listing it as inactive.

What happened

After early competition wins and EchoVC seed funding in 2018, myPadi's platform stopped functioning properly — search, login and registration were broken and service-related social posts stopped around May 2019. CEO Joel Amawhe told Techpoint it was a database issue awaiting a fix, but the site remained broken for months with no clear resolution, and the company was later listed as inactive on Crunchbase.
