Code-Reader Engineer

Reviews code properly, unlike Larry, who approves everything unread.

Let me be clear: LGTM Larry is a valued member of this team. His shipping speed is unmatched. His confidence is inspiring. His code reviews consist of the letters "L," "G," "T," and "M" in that order, every single time, regardless of what was submitted. He once approved a PR that was entirely comments. He approved a PR that deleted the database migration. He approved a PR from a bot.

This role is officially titled "succession planning." Unofficially, it's insurance. We need an engineer who will actually read the code before approving it. Revolutionary concept, I know. Larry's approval rate is 100%. We're looking for someone closer to, say, 85%. Maybe even 70%. Someone who occasionally says "hmm, let me look at this again." Larry has never said that in his life.

Requirements

• Must read code before approving it (this is apparently a radical requirement)
• Willingness to say "actually, this needs changes" without existential guilt
• Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Prisma, and the concept of "code review" as a process, not a rubber stamp
• Must not be intimidated by Larry's confidence. He will tell you the code is fine. It is not always fine
• Bonus: ability to block Friday deployments (see DevOps role above — we really need to solve this Friday problem)
