Key capabilities include:

• Calls and messages by voice: place calls, start FaceTime, send and read texts, and message contacts in supported apps (including WhatsApp) using “Siri” or “Hey Siri”.
• Everyday productivity and device control: set alarms and timers, create reminders (including location-based reminders), check calendars, open apps (Camera, Photos, Maps), and use Find My actions like pinging a device.
• Navigation and driving support: request directions, check traffic and ETA, and share ETA while using CarPlay to keep focus on the road.
• Media and home control: play music and podcasts, identify songs with Shazam, control playback speed, and manage smart home devices such as lights, temperature, security, and Intercom on HomePod.

Notable for privacy-focused design, Apple states that many requests use on-device processing via the Apple Neural Engine, and audio does not leave the device unless a user chooses to share it. For African users already on Apple hardware, it offers hands-free assistance for communication, navigation, and smart home control, with some Apple Intelligence features available in beta and limited by language and region.
