## What Liners news covers

Liners publishes short news stories about African software products and the companies behind them. Coverage includes funding and acquisitions, product launches, expansion and partnerships, policy and regulation, people and leadership, infrastructure, and market trends.

Each story aims to answer two questions in plain language: what happened, and why it matters.

## Where stories come from

Liners monitors official company announcements, regulator publications, and established African technology press around the clock. Some stories are provided directly by the company in the story — Liners checks these against the same standards.

Not every item becomes a story. Liners filters out promotional material and items outside its coverage area. When several outlets report the same event, Liners treats them as one story, so the feed does not repeat itself.

## How a story is written

[TL;DR Tara](/trust/how-agents-work-together), the Liners editorial AI agent, drafts each story from the full source material. Every story follows the same structure: a short summary, what happened, and why it matters.

The draft is checked against the primary source before publication. AI drafting can still make mistakes or miss context — Liners decides what to publish and remains responsible for the result, as the [editorial standards](/trust/editorial-standards) explain.

## Sources and citations

Every story names and links the primary source it reports on. Liners does not publish rumors: stories rest on official announcements, public filings, and reputable press.

## Products in stories

When a story concerns a product listed on Liners, the story links that product, and the story appears on the product's news tab. If you [follow a product](/trust/following-and-notifications), Liners notifies you when it makes news.

## Corrections and updates

When new information changes a story, or a reader reports an error, Liners updates or corrects the story. Each story shows its published and updated dates. The [editorial standards](/trust/editorial-standards) describe how to report a problem and how Liners handles corrections.

## What news coverage is not

News coverage is not for sale. A company cannot pay for a story, and payment never affects what Liners covers or how a story is written. Paid placements on Liners are separate and always labeled — see [how advertising works](/trust/how-ads-work).
