# How product submissions are reviewed

What Liners checks after someone submits a software product.

## Summary

What Liners checks after someone submits a software product.

## Content

## Anyone with an account can submit a product

The [Submit page](/submit) asks for:

- The product's official name.
- Its website URL.
- An optional note for the Liners reviewer.

You may submit a product you do not own. Product ownership uses a separate [claim process](/trust/how-claiming-works).

## The submission starts as Pending

Liners checks for an existing listing when you submit. A new submission enters Pending status.

Liners then reviews the product and its public information. This may include the website, product identity, African market fit, available sources, and possible duplicates. Website review happens during this process and may not happen at the moment you send the form.

The [product listing standards](/trust/product-listing-standards) explain the basic publication rules.

## Research and listing copy

{{agent:dd-dave}} may help gather public product and company facts. AI agents may help draft a description, tagline, FAQs, categories, features, or country coverage.

Liners checks the resulting listing against the available sources and uses cautious wording where the evidence is limited. The [data sourcing guide](/trust/how-we-find-product-data) explains the public source types.

## Review and status

The dashboard can show these product states:

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Pending | Liners has received the submission and has not finished review. |
| Draft | Liners is preparing the listing. |
| Rejected | Liners did not accept the submission. |
| Scheduled | Liners approved the product for a future publication date. |
| Published | The product is live. |

Liners may correct the listing, ask for more information, reject it, or keep it in review. We do not promise a fixed review time because source quality and product fit differ.

## Publication

A Published product appears in the directory. Liners may then calculate [related alternatives](/trust/how-alternatives-work) and send the submitter a publication notice.

Publication does not prove that the submitter owns the product. A work-domain match may let Liners associate a submitter with a product, but it does not grant verified status on its own.

Product owners should read the [guidelines for product owners](/trust/product-owner-guidelines) before claiming or editing a listing.
