# How following and notifications work

How product follows, in-app notifications, and the weekly email roundup work.

## Summary

How product follows, in-app notifications, and the weekly email roundup work.

## Content

## Follow a product

Signed-in users can follow a product to receive updates. Following is free.

A follow can lead to an in-app notice when Liners publishes a tracked update about the product, such as:

- [News](/trust/how-we-gather-news) or funding.
- An approved review.
- A tracked event.
- A delisting or publication change.

Liners does not notify you about your own review. Product owners do not receive follower notices for reviews on a product they manage.

Following holds published products only. When Liners unpublishes a product, it sends you the delisting notice first, then removes the product from your following list. This applies to every unpublished state, including the [Liners Graveyard](/graveyard). If the product returns to the directory later, you can follow it again.

A daily clean-up also removes follows for products that left the directory some other way, such as a bulk data correction. That clean-up sends no separate notice.

Read [how reviews are moderated](/trust/how-reviews-work) for the approved review state.

## In-app notifications

The header bell shows unread notices. You can open the full [notifications page](/dashboard/notifications) to view and manage them.

Liners may remove old notification records after the retention period used by the service. A removed notice does not remove the public product update.

## Weekly roundup

{{agent:touch-base-tony}} sends one weekly email with recent updates across the products you follow.

Liners skips the email if no followed product has an update. A product you unfollow before the roundup no longer belongs in that email.

Each roundup includes an unsubscribe control.

## Preferences

Open [dashboard settings](/dashboard/settings) to turn the weekly email on or off. Turning it off does not remove your follows or in-app notifications.

Delivery failures or spam complaints may stop the email.

## Email archive

A roundup can link to a saved dashboard view of the updates in that email. Clearing an in-app notice does not change that saved roundup.

The [Privacy Policy](/privacy) explains email data, preferences, and retention. The [AI agents guide](/trust/how-agents-work-together) explains the public role of the agents named in Liners updates.
