## Content

## In Short
- Zazu raised seed funding from Launch Africa Ventures.
- The round size was not disclosed.
- Zazu is building a “finance OS” for African SMEs, meaning one tool for everyday money operations.

## What Happened
Cape Town-based fintech Zazu has secured seed funding from Launch Africa Ventures. Zazu says it wants to become the financial operating system for small and medium businesses across Africa.

Zazu was founded in 2024 by Germain Bahri and Rinse Jacobs. The product bundles business accounts, invoicing, spend management, and bookkeeping in one platform. Spend management means tools that help a business control and track company spending, like setting limits and reviewing transactions.

Bahri announced the deal on LinkedIn. He said the funding follows steady product improvements and fast execution. He also said the team is still building core features, even as it moves into a growth phase.

The investment places Zazu in Launch Africa’s Seed Fund II. Other fintech bets in that fund include [AgriDex](/agridex) and [VaulFi](/vaulfi).

Launch Africa Ventures was founded in 2020 by Zachariah George and Janade du Plessis. The investor focuses on seed and pre-Series A rounds, which are early funding stages for startups that are still proving product and demand.

Launch Africa says it has backed more than 180 portfolio companies across two funds in 25 African countries. The portfolio includes [Flutterwave](/flutterwave), [Kuda](/kuda), [Djamo](/djamo), and [Peach Payments ](/peach-payments). The firm has also made 15 new investments in 2026.

## Why It Matters
SMEs often use separate tools for banking, invoices, and accounting, which can create delays and errors. A single platform that connects these workflows can make cash tracking and reporting simpler.

For Launch Africa, the Zazu deal adds another bet on software-led business finance. For Zazu, the firm says the relationship should bring support beyond capital, including guidance as it sharpens the core product and expands.
