## Content

## In Short
UzaPoint says it is helping African SMEs move from handwritten records to digital tools.

In an interview, CEO and cofounder Abraham Mbuthia said UzaPoint now serves more than 10,000 SMEs across over ten African markets.

He also said businesses that use the platform for six months can access credit through UzaPoint’s financial partners.

## What Happened
[Uzapoint](/uzapoint) is a Nairobi-based platform that targets small and medium enterprises, often called SMEs.

Mbuthia described UzaPoint’s focus as moving businesses off “handwritten black books” and onto digital tools for daily operations, meaning record keeping and business management done in software instead of paper.

He said SMEs that use the platform for six months can get credit through UzaPoint’s financial partners.

Mbuthia also said UzaPoint provides “AI insights on their trading”, meaning the platform uses AI to analyse a business’s trading activity and share information back to the owner.

## Why It Matters
Many SMEs still run on paper records, which can make it harder to track performance over time and prove how the business is doing.

UzaPoint is positioning its software as a step before lending, where digital operating data can support access to credit through partners.

Mbuthia also said being first runner up at Africa’s Business Heroes 2025, which he described as the Jack Ma Foundation’s flagship prize, helped bring him from Nairobi to Dubai for African Marketplace Dubai 2026.

He added that a marketplace full of African brands is the right room for a company built to help them grow.
