## In Short
Tix Africa has added a QR-code feature for event organisers. The tool lets organisers generate and download QR codes from the organiser dashboard. The goal is to make it easier for people to open an event page and buy tickets.

## What Happened
On 10 October 2026, [Tix](/tix) announced that organisers can now create QR codes for their events directly inside the dashboard.

A QR code is a scannable square barcode that opens a link on a phone camera, so attendees can jump straight to the event page without typing a URL.

After an organiser publishes an event, a new QR Code button appears in the dashboard. Clicking it generates a unique code tied to that event page.

Organisers can download the code in two formats, PNG or SVG. PNG is a common image format that works well for quick social posts. SVG is a scalable vector file, which means it can be resized for large prints like posters without going blurry.

Tix suggested several use cases, including flyers and posters, social media graphics, merch for recurring events, and QR placements at venues or partner locations.

The company also advised organisers to keep codes large and high-contrast for reliable scanning, test the code before printing, and pair it with a clear call to action such as “Scan to get tickets”.

## Why It Matters
For event organisers, sharing ticket links often turns into repeated manual work across WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, and offline marketing. QR codes reduce friction by turning any printed or shared graphic into a direct path to checkout.

For ticketing platforms, easier discovery can translate into higher conversion rates. If more people can reach the event page in one scan, fewer potential buyers drop off before purchasing.

This update also signals a continued push by African event ticketing tools to support offline-to-online ticket sales. That matters in markets where posters, physical partnerships, and on-ground promos still drive a big share of attendance.
