## Content

## In Short
- Tennsa raised just over ZAR1 million, around $61,000, from Oakvale Invest.
- It is Oakvale Invest’s first publicly disclosed portfolio company.
- Tennsa builds AI software for small and medium-sized businesses, focusing on back-office operations.

## What Happened
Cape Town-based Tennsa has closed a small pre-seed raise of just over ZAR1 million, roughly $61,000. The round came from Oakvale Invest, an Africa-focused pre-seed fund that is now actively deploying capital.

Tennsa builds AI software for SMEs. Its main product, Tennsa OS, connects to tools a business already uses, like sales channels, inventory systems, invoicing software, and communications apps. It then pulls the data into one place and flags issues that need attention.

In practice, it aims to reduce admin work for business owners. It can highlight operational problems such as stock mismatches, cash flow pressure, or customer delays, using the data already sitting across disconnected systems.

Oakvale Invest says it invests only in African AI startups at the pre-seed stage. It also targets founders aged 18 to 25, and positions itself as hands-on support on product focus, go-to-market planning, governance, and follow-on fundraising.

## Why It Matters
The deal points to a growing interest in “ops AI” for businesses, rather than consumer chatbots. Ops AI means software that helps run internal operations, like finance, inventory, and customer workflows, similar to a digital operations manager.

For many African SMEs, key data lives in separate tools that do not talk to each other. A product that acts as a connector layer can make that data usable, especially for owners who do not have dedicated finance or operations staff.

For Oakvale Invest, backing Tennsa as its first disclosed deal sets the tone for its thesis. If the fund follows through with more early checks and close founder support, it could become a visible entry point for young AI founders seeking pre-seed capital in Africa.
