## What Happened: Standard Chartered Q3 2026 Financial Results
Standard Chartered said net interest income rose 9 per cent to USD3.0 billion. The bank said this was driven by volumes and an improved balance sheet mix.

Non interest income rose 19 per cent to USD2.8 billion. Standard Chartered said this was driven by “strong momentum” in Wealth Solutions and Global Markets.

Wealth Solutions was up 26 per cent, with growth in Investment Products and Bancassurance. Global Markets was up 21 per cent, driven by double digit growth in both flow and episodic income.

Operating expenses rose 9 per cent to USD3.4 billion, excluding notable items. The bank said this was largely driven by targeted investments for business growth.

Credit impairment charge fell by USD98 million to USD90 million. Standard Chartered said this reflected a USD24 million net release in Corporate and Investment Banking and a USD114 million charge in Wealth and Retail Banking.

Return on tangible equity rose to 15.7 per cent, up 520 bps. The bank reported a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 13.8 per cent, down 31 bps quarter on quarter.

## Why It Matters: Raised 2026 Guidance
Group Chief Executive Bill Winters said the quarter showed “broad-based growth across our businesses” and that year to date earnings per share were up 27 per cent. He added, “This gives us confidence to raise our 2026 income guidance, and we now expect to deliver a RoTE of around 14 per cent in 2026.”

Standard Chartered’s revised 2026 guidance includes operating income growth above the prior 5 to 7 per cent range at constant currency and excluding notable items. It also expects net interest income to be up around 4 per cent year on year at constant currency, a cost to income ratio of around 60 per cent excluding notable items, and RoTE of around 14 per cent.

Chief Financial Officer Manus Costello said the bank delivered “another record performance” in the quarter and that the results support raising full year guidance. He said the bank’s focus is on “building a simpler, faster and more connected bank to better serve our clients.”
