## Content

## In Short
- A hosting-facility service disruption at RSAWEB started on 7 September 2026.
- The incident affected shared hosting, cPanel hosting, the customer portal, and RSAWEB’s website.
- RSAWEB said engineers were restoring services in phases, with some hosting services already back.

## What Happened
[RSAWEB](/rsaweb) posted a consumer notice about a service disruption impacting its hosting facility services. A hosting facility is the data centre setup that runs servers for websites, email, and customer dashboards.

According to the status notice, multiple services experienced a mix of major outages and partial outages. Affected items listed include fibre-to-the-home services, Openserve connectivity, shared hosting, cPanel hosting services, the RSAWEB customer portal, and rsaweb.co.za.

RSAWEB’s updates on 8 September said the majority of cPanel shared hosting services had been restored. It also said work was continuing on remaining affected services. Mobile data service restoration was still in progress at the time of the updates, and RSAWEB said there was no ETA.

Separately, RSAWEB’s homepage messaging indicated its website and online shop were temporarily unavailable. That can block new orders and reduce customer self-service, even when some back-end systems begin to recover.

## Why It Matters
This kind of outage can hit small businesses hard, especially SMEs that rely on shared hosting and cPanel to run websites, email accounts, and online stores. cPanel is a common hosting control panel, like an admin dashboard for managing domains, emails, and files.

It also highlights operational risk for South Africa’s hosting and connectivity market. When a provider’s portal and website go down, customers may struggle to log tickets, check usage, or change services during an incident.

For businesses, the practical takeaway is to review redundancy plans, including offsite backups, alternative DNS management, and a separate status page or communication channel for customers.
