## In Short
Remita has launched a consumer mobile app in Nigeria.
Users can link accounts from different banks and manage money in one place.
The app also includes investing, loans, bill payments, and cross-border transfers.

## What Happened
[Remita](/remita) unveiled its consumer “super app” on September 22, 2026, at Nigeria Fintech Week in Lagos. Remita is best known for payment infrastructure used by government and large organisations, but it is now pushing into everyday retail banking and personal finance.

A key feature is multi-bank account visibility. That means users can connect accounts from different banks and monitor balances and activity on a single screen, instead of switching between multiple banking apps.

Remita said the app supports instant transfers to other African countries through PAPSS, short for the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, which is a network that helps move money across African borders using local currencies. The app debits a user’s local bank account and routes the transfer through that system.

Beyond transfers, the app includes recurring payments for direct debits and standing orders, plus budgeting and expense tracking. It also offers stock and share investing, a loans marketplace that compares offers from multiple lenders, and bill payments for electricity, airtime, data, and pay TV. Remita also listed travel and lifestyle features like flight and event ticketing.

The company said it has already run a quiet beta and attracted thousands of early adopters. Remita’s managing director, ‘DeRemi Atanda, said the consumer launch builds on two decades of running payments rails and processing over ₦100 trillion annually.

## Why It Matters
Nigeria’s fintech market already has many apps for transfers, bills, savings, and investing. Remita’s bet is that one app that aggregates multiple bank accounts, credit options, and investments can reduce friction for users who bank in more than one place.

If the PAPSS integration works reliably, it could also make cross-border payments simpler for individuals, not just businesses. That matters in a continent where bank transfers across countries are often slow, expensive, and fragmented.

The loans marketplace also points to a bigger shift, consumer finance is moving toward comparison and distribution. Users may increasingly choose credit based on transparent pricing and eligibility checks tied to identity systems like BVN and NIN.
