## In Short
- [Quidax](/quidax) has expanded its stablecoin infrastructure to more than 21 countries and 14 currencies.
- The company says the rails can settle cross-border payments in under 48 hours, without using correspondent banks.
- Quidax says the infrastructure already supports over 5,000 startups and enterprises.

## What Happened: Quidax Stablecoin Rails For Cross-Border Payments
On July 28, 2026, Quidax announced a wider rollout of its stablecoin infrastructure, aimed at businesses that move money across borders.

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to track the value of a stable asset like the US dollar, similar to “digital cash” that can move on blockchain networks. Quidax says its rails support stablecoins including USDT, XAUT, and USAT, plus other stablecoins.

The company said coverage now includes key African markets such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, Ethiopia, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire. It also extends to markets outside Africa including the USA, UK, Canada, China, the UAE, and several European countries.

Quidax said the infrastructure supports 14 local and international currencies, including the Nigerian naira, Ghanaian cedi, the Central African CFA franc (XAF), the West African CFA franc (XOF), and the US dollar.

## Why It Matters: Faster Settlement And Lower Africa Payment Fees
Quidax is positioning the expansion as a response to high cross-border payment costs in Africa. The company cited estimates that Africa loses about $5 billion per year to fees and delays.

In many traditional cross-border payments, money moves through correspondent banks, meaning local banks route transfers through partner banks, often outside the continent. Quidax claims its infrastructure removes that step and can reduce settlement times to under 48 hours.

The company also highlighted compliance and regulation. Quidax says it is the first digital assets exchange to receive a provisional licence from Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission, and it plans to expand licensing in more markets.

For fintechs, remittance providers, and global firms serving African customers, stablecoin-based rails are increasingly used as an alternative payment route. The real test will be whether businesses can maintain reliable liquidity, clear pricing, and consistent compliance across all supported countries.
