## Content

## In Short
Ticketmaster-backed Quicket has launched in Kenya and Uganda. The company is positioning it as a long-term bet on East Africa’s live entertainment market.

## What Happened
[Quicket](/quicket) went live in Kenya and Uganda on August 20, 2026. Ticketmaster and Live Nation framed the rollout as part of a long-term investment in East Africa’s concerts, festivals, and other ticketed events.

Quicket is pitching “fully digital ticketing”, which means tickets are issued and checked electronically instead of printed paper. The company says this can reduce ticket fraud and speed up entry at venues.

The platform includes local payment options. Buyers can pay using mobile money, including M-Pesa, MTN Mobile Money, and Airtel Money. Mobile money is a phone-based wallet that lets people pay without a bank card.

Quicket is also leaning on distribution through major consumer platforms. Event listings can be pushed across Spotify, Google, Meta, Bandsintown, and Apple Music. The idea is to place events closer to where fans already discover music and artists, then convert that discovery into ticket sales.

For organisers and sponsors, Quicket says it will provide real-time audience insights, which are live dashboards showing who is buying, when they buy, and which channels drive sales. It also says the platform meets global security standards and local compliance requirements.

The company shared early product plans too. Quicket is developing WhatsApp-based ticketing, meaning event discovery and checkout would happen inside WhatsApp chats. It also mentioned AI-powered tools to help users find and buy tickets, although it did not share timelines.

## Why It Matters
Kenya and Uganda have strong mobile money adoption, so local payments can be the difference between browsing and completing checkout. If Quicket’s integrations work reliably, it could lift online ticket conversion for event organisers.

For the regional tech ecosystem, this is another example of global consumer and commerce infrastructure being adapted to local rails. It could also raise competition for existing ticketing and event management tools, especially around fraud controls, distribution reach, and data for promoters.
