## Content

## In Short
- Prudential says it kept the No. 2 position among multinational companies in the 2026 MDRT rankings.
- First-time qualifiers rose 14% year on year across Asia and Africa.
- In Africa, Nigeria and Ghana were ranked No. 1 in-country.

## What Happened
[Prudential](/prudential) said it retained its No. 2 position among multinational companies in the 2026 MDRT rankings, and reported a 14% year-on-year increase in first-time qualifiers across Asia and Africa.

MDRT stands for Million Dollar Round Table, a global association that recognises high-performing insurance and financial advisers based on sales and service standards. In practice, it is a benchmark many insurers use to track adviser productivity and training outcomes.

Prudential linked the growth to its focus on adviser development and “agency transformation”, meaning changes to how it recruits, trains, and manages its sales agents.

The company highlighted market-level results. Indonesia held the No. 1 in-country ranking for more than a decade and has the largest number of MDRT members there. Hong Kong moved up three places to No. 3 globally. Singapore ranked No. 1 in-country for Top of Table qualifiers, which is a higher performance tier within MDRT.

In Africa, Prudential said it remained the only insurer represented in the MDRT Global Top 100 company rankings over the last three years, with Nigeria and Ghana each ranked No. 1 in-country.

## Why It Matters
For African insurance markets, adviser productivity is still a core growth lever. Many policies are sold through agents, not fully digital channels.

A rising share of MDRT qualifiers can signal better training, stronger sales management, and more predictable new business performance. Prudential also said its “new business profit per MDRT agent” is growing at a double-digit rate, which suggests it is earning more from each top-performing agent.

Prudential also pointed to AI-enabled tools for advisers. In insurance, that usually means software that helps agents recommend cover, handle paperwork, and follow up with customers faster.

For founders and operators building tools in /categories/insurtech, the message is clear. Large insurers are still betting heavily on agent-led distribution, and they want software that makes those agents more effective.
