[PremiumTrust Bank](/premiumtrust-bank) commissioned its second Bayelsa branch on Monday in Yenagoa. The bank already operates a first branch in the state, and this opening expands its physical footprint.

Governor Douye Diri attended the commissioning and linked the move to Bayelsa’s economic outlook. He said the state is entering a new phase of opportunity, especially with the expected start of a 60-megawatt independent power plant.

An independent power plant is a privately owned power station that can generate electricity outside the national grid system. For businesses, that can mean fewer generator hours and lower operating costs.

Diri argued that more reliable electricity would support small businesses, traders, and larger industries. He also said it could attract new investments, create jobs, and raise demand for credible financial services.
