## Content

## In Short
PipeOps has announced Audit Logs and Change Tracking, a feature that records important workspace activity in a central history.

## What Happened
[PipeOps](/pipeops) says teams often need to quickly understand what changed when an application breaks. Without a clear record, that can mean digging through deployment logs and CI/CD logs, or asking teammates.

Audit Logs and Change Tracking is meant to make changes traceable. Each logged event includes the actor, the action, the affected project, extra details, and when the action occurred.

PipeOps says the Audit page groups events into five categories, All, Lifecycle, Settings, Deployments, and Security. Users can also search workspace activity and filter by category.

The feature records several types of activity across a workspace. PipeOps highlights environment variable changes, deployments, and project deletions as examples.

For environment variables, PipeOps notes that updates to items like database URLs, API endpoints, secrets, or feature flags can change how an application runs. When an environment variable is updated, an audit event such as “Updated environment variable” is recorded with the actor, affected project, details, and time.

For deployments, PipeOps records deployment activity, including deployments triggered through webhooks. An event such as “Webhook deployment” can include details like the actor, affected project, branch or other available details, and when it happened.

For project deletions, the audit history can show “Deleted project” along with who did it, which project was affected, and when.

## Why It Matters
PipeOps says the main benefits are faster investigations, better visibility, and clearer accountability. It also says audit logs can help teams follow an incident timeline by showing the sequence of events leading up to a problem, even if the logs do not automatically identify the root cause.
