## In Short
PiggyVest has opened applications for the PiggyVest Business Grant 2026. It is offering up to ₦10 million in grant funding to three Nigerian businesses in fashion, beauty, or food and hospitality. Applications close on September 18, 2026.

## What Happened
PiggyVest Business Grant 2026 is a grant programme, meaning winners get cash support that does not require giving up equity (ownership in the company).

The grant is open to registered Nigerian businesses that have been operating for at least six months. Eligible sectors are fashion, beauty, and food and hospitality.

To apply, founders must complete an online form and submit a short video of up to five minutes. The video should explain the problem the business solves, what makes it different, where the founder wants to take the business next, and what the grant would fund.

After review, shortlisted businesses will be invited to pitch live at OpenHouse 2026 in Lagos. PiggyVest says three businesses will be selected as grant recipients. Winners will be announced on September 26, 2026.

## Why It Matters
For early-stage SMEs, non-dilutive funding can be easier than raising venture capital, especially for consumer sectors like fashion, beauty, and hospitality where growth can be steady but not always “VC-style” fast.

The pitch requirement also creates a clear filter for businesses with a defined plan for using capital. In practice, founders often use grants for inventory, equipment, hiring, marketing, or expanding into new locations.

For the wider ecosystem, programmes like this keep attention on offline-first categories that still power a large share of Nigeria’s jobs and small business activity. They also show how fintech brands like [PiggyVest](/piggyvest) are using community events to stay close to entrepreneurs beyond savings products.
