## Content

## In Short
- [PGold](/pgold) published a product update on September 7, 2026.
- It says it has improved KYC verification, added electricity bill payments, and launched an in-app betting feature.
- The company also officially unveiled its Campus Ambassador Program for Nigerian students.

## What Happened
PGold is expanding what users can do inside its app, beyond crypto trading. In a blog update, the company said it has rolled out a stronger KYC process, enabled electricity bill payments, and switched on a betting feature.

KYC means “Know Your Customer”, it is the identity checks apps use to confirm who you are, similar to showing an ID card to open a bank account. PGold says the upgraded KYC flow is meant to reduce fraudulent verification and prevent stolen identities from being approved.

On services, PGold says users can pay electricity bills directly in the app. It also says its betting feature is now live, timed around the return of the football season.

Finally, the company announced the official unveiling of its Campus Ambassador Program. It is building a network of student advocates across campuses in Nigeria, with ambassadors expected to drive awareness, referrals, content, and on-campus community activity.

## Why It Matters
Many African consumer fintech and crypto apps are trying to increase retention by bundling everyday use cases. Bill payments and entertainment spending can create more frequent app usage than trading alone.

At the same time, tougher identity checks are becoming a baseline requirement, especially for apps handling money movement or higher risk services. Better KYC can reduce fraud losses, but it can also add onboarding friction, so execution matters.

If PGold can balance security with a smooth sign-up flow, and convert students through its campus program, it may grow transaction volume through repeat use, not just market cycles.
