## Content

## In Short
PayServe is a Kenyan prop-tech and fintech startup raising a US$1 million Series A. The company sells software that automates billing, payments and reconciliation for managed real estate.

## What Happened
PayServe, founded in 2024, focuses on “revenue assurance” for managed estates, meaning it helps property operators bill and collect money accurately for rent, service charge and utilities.

Founder and CEO Steve Butler said PayServe reads consumption from its smart water and power meters, collects payments through M-Pesa and direct bank integrations with Absa, Co-op Bank, NCBA, Equity and KCB, and reconciles them automatically. He said it then posts transactions into client accounting systems such as SAP, Zoho or QuickBooks, and includes KRA eTIMS compliance, a link to Kenya’s electronic tax invoicing system.

Beyond billing and payments, PayServe also offers modules for visitor and access control, maintenance, procurement, unit handover, bookings, and a portal for residents and homeowners. Customers include property developers, facility and property management companies, owners’ associations and community water schemes.

Butler said the product was built for large managed developments that still run on spreadsheets, manual meter readings and manual reconciliation of M-Pesa statements. He said this can lead to disputed bills, revenue leakage, late payments, and residents who do not trust the numbers.

PayServe said it has been founder-funded so far and is now raising to scale sales, deepen the product, and expand regionally.

## Why It Matters
PayServe says it already bills more than 10,000 units across over 50 properties, has deployed 3,000 smart meters, and has processed KES1 billion (US$7.7 million) through the platform since inception. Butler said flagship deployments include Northlands Heights, with over 1,000 units and more than 1,000 smart water meters, and Mwalimu Kisaju, with 840 units and 1,600 smart meters.

The company also highlighted a live KRA eTIMS integration and direct integrations with Safaricom’s Daraja API and five major banks, and said PesaLink is next on its list.
