## Content

## In Short
Payaza has launched Shopaza, an eCommerce platform for small businesses. It is live across 23 countries in Africa, North America, and Europe. The product bakes in Payaza’s own payments for faster payouts.

## What Happened
[Payaza](/payaza) launched Shopaza in Lagos on June 18, 2026, positioning it as a way for African merchants and diaspora sellers to move beyond selling only on social media.

Shopaza lets merchants create a digital storefront, track orders, and manage inventory in one place. A digital storefront is a simple online shop page where customers can browse and pay without messaging back and forth.

The key pitch is payments. Shopaza runs on Payaza’s in-house payment infrastructure, rather than relying on third-party payment providers. Payaza says this enables instant settlement, meaning sellers receive their money quickly after a customer pays.

Kehinde Omotosho, Payaza Africa’s Head of Engineering, said the platform supports multi-currency payments and faster access to funds. Multi-currency means customers can pay in different currencies, which matters for cross-border commerce.

Payaza also revealed it is integrating AI features into Shopaza. AI, short for artificial intelligence, is software that can help automate tasks like generating product descriptions, sorting customer messages, or highlighting sales trends. The company has not yet shared a full breakdown of which AI tools are available at launch.

## Why It Matters
Across Africa, many small businesses sell through Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook because it is easy to start. But social selling often makes operations messy, with scattered chats, manual inventory updates, and limited insight into what is selling and when.

If Shopaza delivers reliable storefronts with built-in payments and quick settlement, it could reduce friction for merchants who want better data and smoother cash flow. It also puts Payaza in closer competition with other SME commerce tools, where payments, analytics, and ease of setup are the main battlegrounds.
