## Content

## In Short
- Nedbank has JSE approval to list a new structured note called NNF205.
- The instrument has a nominal issue size of R200 million.
- The issue date is 19 October 2026.

## What Happened
[Nedbank](/nedbank) has received approval from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange to list NNF205 under its Structured Note Programme. NNF205 is described as a combined credit-linked and index-linked note.

A structured note is a debt product that bundles a bond-like component with a payoff linked to something else, such as a market index. In this case, “credit-linked” means the return and risk can depend on a credit event tied to a reference entity, like a default. “Index-linked” means part of the payout can track the performance of an index, similar to how an ETF tracks a basket.

The nominal issue amount is R200 million. This is the face value of the notes that may be issued, not necessarily the final amount placed with investors. The notes are scheduled to be issued on 19 October 2026, following the 16 October 2026 approval.

For investors and treasury teams, these listings are another way banks package yield, market exposure, and credit risk into a single listed instrument. For the market, it adds more on-exchange options beyond standard bonds and equities.

## Why It Matters
JSE-listed structured notes can improve access and distribution because they can be bought and held through standard brokerage and custody rails. That can make product terms and secondary trading clearer than similar over-the-counter instruments.

However, structured notes can also be complex. The embedded credit risk and index exposure can behave differently under stress, so pricing, fees, and trigger events matter as much as the headline yield.

For South Africa’s banking and capital markets ecosystem, steady issuance under programmes like this points to continued demand for tailored fixed income and equity-linked products, especially in a higher-rate environment.
