## Content

## In Short
Moniepoint is restructuring its Engineering and Product functions.

The company said the change will make some roles redundant.

Moniepoint is also introducing a platform based operating model and new roles, including platform architects.

## What Happened: Moniepoint’s Platform Based Product Operating Model
[Moniepoint](/moniepoint) said it is restructuring Engineering and Product as it seeks to improve operational efficiency and accelerate expansion into new markets. The Nigerian fintech said the move will render some existing roles redundant.

In a holding statement, Moniepoint said the restructuring will introduce a platform based operating model. Under this setup, smaller product area teams will develop and manage their products from end to end.

The company said it will also introduce platform architects. It said these roles will design and oversee the technical systems underpinning each platform group, and sit within Moniepoint’s broader Product Operating Model and architectural governance.

“The new structure requires fewer roles in some areas, while creating new ones, including platform architects who will design and oversee the systems each platform group builds on,” the company said.

Moniepoint said it will consider employees whose roles become redundant for available positions elsewhere in the business. It said a redundancy consultation process will be initiated where no suitable alternative role is identified.

Moniepoint did not disclose how many employees or positions would be affected.

## Why It Matters: Expansion Beyond Nigeria, Growth in Kenya
Moniepoint said the restructuring follows a decade of growth, where it expanded from a single product into a group of financial services businesses. It said this growth was built on proprietary technology developed in house.

Under the new model, Moniepoint expects smaller teams to have greater autonomy and clearer accountability. The company said it expects faster product development, improved operational reliability, more consistent services for its growing customer base, and support for expansion into new markets.

The company said the changes come as it expands beyond its established Nigerian operations and grows its presence in Kenya.

Moniepoint provides payments, banking, credit and business management services to businesses and individuals. It said its agent network spans all 774 local government areas in Nigeria, and that its subsidiaries process more than $400 billion in annual digital payment transaction value.
