## Content

## In Short
- MNT-Halan shares rose 18% on their first day trading on the Egyptian Exchange after a $150 million IPO.
- The stock moved from EGP 24.50 at the offer price to about EGP 28.91, valuing the listed Egyptian business at roughly $745 million.
- Demand was strong, with retail and institutional tranches both oversubscribed.

## What Happened
MNT-Halan listed in Egypt after completing a $150 million initial public offering, which is a public share sale that allows investors to buy into the company on a stock exchange.

About 320 million shares were sold, raising around EGP 7.84 billion, or about $144 million. The sale represented a 20% stake in MNT Tech Holding for Financial Investments, which is the group’s Egyptian operating company.

This was a secondary sale. That means shares were sold by the parent company, rather than the operating business issuing new shares to raise fresh capital.

The IPO saw heavy demand. Institutional investors applied for about 11.2 times their allocated shares, while individual investors applied for about 43.6 times.

The market valuation for the listed Egypt unit, around $745 million, is lower than the $1.4 billion valuation reported after a June 2026 funding round. The two numbers are not directly comparable because the IPO covers only the Egyptian operations, not the full group.

## Why It Matters
MNT-Halan is one of Egypt’s best-known fintech lenders, and its listing gives public market investors access to a large local consumer and SME credit business.

The deal is also a signal for Egypt’s broader push to deepen its public markets and attract more IPOs, including listings linked to government programmes.

For African fintech watchers, the structure matters. A secondary sale can improve liquidity for early shareholders, but it does not automatically add new cash to the operating business, which can shape expectations about expansion, lending capacity, and product investment.
