## Content

## In Short
MCB Group says its internal audit function has obtained certification from the French Institute of Internal Audit and Internal Control, known as IFACI. MCB says this is the first IFACI certification for an institution in Mauritius.

## What Happened: MCB Internal Audit Certified by IFACI
MCB Group announced that it has obtained IFACI certification for its internal audit function. IFACI is an association affiliated with the Institute of Internal Auditors, known as IIA.

MCB says IFACI’s mission is to unite, promote, and represent professions involved in risk management, auditing, and internal control within organisations.

MCB said the recognition assesses the maturity, effectiveness, and value added by its internal audit function. It said the assessment goes beyond compliance with international standards.

MCB also said the certification provides external validation of the quality of its internal audit function. It added that the certification covers alignment with the profession’s best practices and regulatory expectations, including those of the Bank of Mauritius.

## Why It Matters: Governance Signals for Investors and Regulators
MCB said governance, risk management, and internal control systems are now key evaluation criteria for investors, rating agencies, strategic partners, and regulators.

MCB said an independent, rigorous, and externally assessed internal audit function can help an institution demonstrate the strength and resilience of its operating model, with tangible evidence. It added that this matters in a context where governance and internal controls play a bigger role in assessing financial institutions with international ambitions.
