## Content

## In Short
KCB Group posted stronger H1 2026 earnings, helped by regional subsidiaries and lower bad loans. The bank also increased its interim dividend.

## What Happened
[KCB Group](/kcb-group) said H1 2026 profit after tax attributable to shareholders rose 14.5% to KSh 36.1 billion, up from KSh 31.5 billion a year earlier.

The board recommended an interim dividend of KES 3.00 per share, up 50% from KES 2.00 in the prior year.

KCB pointed to regional diversification as a key driver. Subsidiaries outside Kenya contributed 29.6% of group profit before tax. That matters because it reduces reliance on one market when local demand slows.

Asset quality improved. Gross non-performing loans, which are loans that borrowers are not repaying on time, fell 8% year on year to KSh 203.8 billion. Real estate saw the biggest improvement, with non-performing loans dropping from KSh 47 billion to KSh 35 billion.

The wider Kenya banking market also reported stronger mid-year results. [Co-operative Bank of Kenya](/co-operative-bank-kenya) said H1 2026 profit after tax increased 28% to KSh 18.0 billion.

## Why It Matters
For fintechs and software vendors selling into banks, higher profits and improving loan books can translate into more budget for core banking upgrades, fraud monitoring, credit scoring, and customer service tooling.

KCB’s growing contribution from regional subsidiaries is also a signal for operators building cross-border products, especially in payments and lending. A more regionally balanced bank can push shared platforms across markets faster than a single-country lender.

The interim dividend increase may also attract more investor attention to listed financials in Kenya. That can influence funding conditions and valuations for the broader financial services sector.
