Internet Technologies Angola (ITA) used Angola Oil & Gas 2026 to showcase its OneWeb low Earth orbit connectivity solution. The goal is to provide reliable internet for oil and gas operations in areas where terrestrial coverage, meaning fibre and mobile networks on the ground, is limited.

ITA is part of the [Paratus](/paratus) group. The company said the OneWeb service is aimed at use cases like connecting remote facilities, keeping field teams in contact, and supporting operational monitoring. That includes systems that rely on continuous data transmission, such as telemetry, remote sensors, and safety systems.

The pitch is based on LEO satellites, meaning satellites that orbit closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites. OneWeb’s constellation sits at roughly 1,000 kilometres above Earth. Because the signal travels a shorter distance, latency, meaning the time it takes data to go from point A to point B, is typically lower. Lower latency matters for real time applications like voice and video calls, remote support, and monitoring dashboards.

ITA also highlighted flexible deployment options. The satellite link can serve as the primary connection, as redundancy (a failover backup), or as part of a hybrid setup that combines multiple network types for more uptime.

For Angola’s oil and gas sector, connectivity gaps are often a direct operational risk. Offshore and remote onshore locations can suffer from limited network reach and fragile links. Satellite internet is increasingly being positioned as a practical way to keep critical communications running.

ITA also pointed to use beyond oil and gas, including mining, agriculture, and transport. That matters for businesses and public services that need dependable digital access outside major cities, where last mile infrastructure is still uneven across many African markets.
