## Content

## In Short
ipNX Nigeria and the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, GCIOBA, have partnered on a CSR project to deliver free campus-wide broadband at Government College Ibadan.

## What Happened
[ipNX Nigeria](/ipnx-nigeria) said it is deploying a campus-wide digital connectivity project at Government College Ibadan, a public secondary school in Ibadan.

The partnership is led by the GCIOBA North America branch and is part of ipNX’s corporate social responsibility programme. CSR means a company-funded public benefit project, often focused on education, health, or community services.

The build includes a fibre backbone across the school. Fibre is a high-capacity cable network that moves data fast, like a main water pipe for internet. The fibre network will connect 29 buildings, with enterprise-grade wireless in each building.

ipNX said the network will serve more than 2,250 students and staff. It is designed to support teaching and learning, school administration, and access to digital learning resources, including online content and research materials.

The project was referenced at the 2026 GCIOBA Lagos Branch Annual Luncheon, where alumni and stakeholders discussed the rollout.

## Why It Matters
Reliable broadband is still a bottleneck for many public schools in Nigeria, especially for shared computer labs, digital libraries, and teacher training.

A campus-wide fibre backbone plus managed Wi-Fi can also reduce downtime and improve coverage compared to ad-hoc routers and mobile hotspots.

If maintained, the setup gives Government College Ibadan a base for future tools such as learning management systems, online examinations, and cloud-based school records. It also shows how alumni groups and connectivity providers can jointly fund infrastructure when budgets are tight.
