# Interswitch and Pride Bank Expand Agency Banking in Uganda

Interswitch and Pride Bank launched a partnership to expand agency banking and Verve debit card access across Uganda via Quickteller agents and ATMs.

## In Short
Pride Bank has partnered with [Interswitch](/interswitch) Uganda to expand access to banking services through agency banking and debit cards. The rollout is built on Quickteller’s agent network and Pride Bank Verve debit cards.

## What Happened
The partnership was officially launched on 22 September 2026. Pride Bank says it wants customers to access everyday banking without needing to visit a branch.

A key part of the deal is connecting Pride Bank customers to [Quickteller](/quickteller) Agency Banking. Agency banking means you can do basic bank transactions at a nearby shop or kiosk acting as an agent, instead of going to a bank branch.

Pride Bank says Quickteller has more than 21,000 agents across Uganda. Through participating agents, customers can make cash deposits, withdraw cash, repay loans, and pay bills.

The second part is card access. Pride Bank is rolling out Verve debit cards through its integration with the Interswitch network. Pride Bank says Verve cardholders can access cash through more than 650 ATMs connected to the network across Uganda.

## Why It Matters
For many customers, distance and time are the real barriers to using formal banking. Traders, farmers, small business owners, and boda boda riders often lose income when they leave work to queue at a branch.

More agent locations can reduce travel costs and make it easier to manage cash daily. It also creates a business case for local agents, who can earn commissions and attract more foot traffic.

For Interswitch, the deal strengthens its distribution for payments and banking services in Uganda. For Pride Bank, it expands reach without the cost of opening new branches, while pushing more transactions onto digital rails and shared infrastructure.
