## In Short
- inDrive is adding free parcel protection for eligible business users of its courier service in Nigeria.
- Coverage is up to ₦50,000 per parcel at no extra cost.
- Claims are reviewed in about three to seven days, and refunds can land within 14 days.

## What Happened
[inDrive](/indrive) has launched free parcel protection for eligible business users of inDrive.Courier in Nigeria. The offer covers lost or damaged parcels up to ₦50,000 per shipment.

Parcel protection is a form of delivery insurance, it is a promise to refund a customer when a shipment goes missing or arrives damaged, up to a set limit. inDrive says the protection comes at no additional cost for qualified business accounts.

The company also shared timelines for payouts. Claims are typically reviewed within three to seven days. If approved, refunds are available within 14 days, but only up to the ₦50,000 coverage cap.

This update targets business senders, not every user by default. The focus on “eligible” accounts suggests inDrive is applying criteria such as shipment frequency, account type, or route coverage.

## Why It Matters
Courier and last-mile delivery in Nigeria is a trust-heavy market. Many SMEs ship high-value items like phones, cosmetics, and fashion, and one bad delivery can wipe out profit and damage customer relationships.

By bundling protection into its courier product, inDrive is trying to reduce perceived risk for business customers. It can also push more merchants to route parcels through its platform instead of informal dispatch networks.

For operators, the move is also a pricing play. Free protection makes comparison shopping harder because the “real cost” of delivery includes potential losses and dispute handling, not just delivery fees.

Expect other delivery and mobility platforms to respond with stronger guarantees, faster claims handling, or optional add-on insurance for higher-value parcels.
