## What Happened
[Hubtel](/hubtel) announced the contribution on August 31, 2026, after Capt. Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Rtd.), the founder of UT Bank, visited Hubtel’s Accra offices on August 27 for a leadership engagement.

Hubtel said the meeting included its CEO Alex Bram and other senior leaders. The discussion covered youth development and leadership training, and it also surfaced a longer relationship between Amoabeng and Bram dating back to 2017.

The PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation runs leadership programmes for young people. Its flagship PK Amoabeng Scholars Programme includes mentorship, workshops, job shadowing, entrepreneurship support, and military-style training, which is structured discipline and fitness similar to a cadet programme.

The foundation says 40 scholars have graduated from its first two cohorts. A third cohort is underway and a fourth is being recruited. It also says it has reached more than 5,000 students across five schools through other engagements.

Beyond the cash pledge, Hubtel and the foundation are discussing a deeper partnership. Areas mentioned include entrepreneurship and product-building, youth leadership development, AI (artificial intelligence, software that learns patterns from data), and employee mentorship from Hubtel staff.

## Why It Matters
Ghana’s fintech and digital services companies are increasingly tying brand building to talent pipelines. This kind of partnership can help founders and operators connect students to practical skills like mentorship, workplace exposure, and structured leadership training.

For Hubtel, the move also signals a push to formalise employee-led mentorship, and possibly apply AI-focused learning to real local problems. For the foundation, corporate support can expand cohorts and strengthen links to the private sector, which can improve job readiness and early-stage entrepreneurship outcomes.
