## Content

## In Short
- Adegoke Olubusi has resigned as CEO of Helium Health after nearly 10 years.
- The company has not announced a successor.
- Co-founder Dimeji Sofowora is now the only remaining co-founder actively leading the business.

## What Happened
Helium Health CEO Adegoke Olubusi has stepped down from his role after nearly a decade leading the Nigerian healthtech company.

Olubusi co-founded [Helium Health](/helium-health) in 2016 alongside Tito Ovia and Dimeji Sofowora. This exit follows a previous co-founder transition, Tito Ovia left the company in 2022.

Helium Health has not publicly named a new CEO. However, Sofowora is widely expected to take on a larger leadership role, given he is now the only co-founder still actively involved in day-to-day leadership.

Under Olubusi, the company grew from a product focused on digitising hospital records into a broader healthcare software business. Its early offerings included electronic medical records, meaning digital patient files instead of paper folders, and hospital management systems, meaning software that helps clinics run billing, appointments, and operations.

Helium Health was also one of Nigeria’s early Y Combinator-backed startups, joining the Silicon Valley accelerator in 2017. The company has raised more than $50 million and has been reported to serve over 10,000 healthcare providers across sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Outside Helium Health, Olubusi is a co-founder of MAGIC Fund, an early-stage venture capital firm that has invested in over 250 startups. He has not announced his next move, but his personal site describes him as a health AI researcher focused on using healthcare data to improve artificial intelligence systems.

## Why It Matters
Leadership changes at later-stage startups often affect execution, fundraising, and customer confidence, especially in enterprise health software where hospitals expect long-term support.

For Helium Health, the key near-term question is succession. A clear CEO appointment and communication plan will matter to healthcare providers, partners, and investors watching for continuity in product delivery and regional expansion.
