## Content

## In Short
- LXE Hearing is winding down its U.S. operations, including the hearX Screening and Diagnostic business.
- Current services are expected to continue until September 15, 2026.
- Customers are being told to sync devices and export patient records before cloud services are shut off.

## What Happened
LXE Hearing says it has started an orderly wind-down of its U.S. operations, including the hearX Screening and Diagnostic Solutions business. The company says current services are expected to remain available through September 15, 2026. A final termination date has not been confirmed.

For clinics and hearing screening programmes using hearX devices, the key issue is the cloud-connected service layer. Cloud services are hosted online systems that handle device management, data sync, and report access, similar to how a shared online drive keeps files available across computers.

LXE Hearing is asking organisations to take several steps now. These include connecting all hearX devices to the internet, completing pending data synchronisations, and exporting or printing patient records and reports. Customers are also advised to confirm their operational contact details and follow upcoming transition communications.

The notice warns that once cloud-connected services are discontinued, some affected hearX devices and applications may stop working, or may not work as intended. After the final service-termination date, LXE Hearing says it will no longer provide product support, software updates, cloud-hosted services, device management, troubleshooting, or assurance of continued functionality.

## Why It Matters
Healthcare workflows depend on continuity, especially when patient records and test reports are involved. A wind-down that includes cloud shutdown can create sudden operational gaps for providers that rely on always-on syncing and centralised reporting.

For African health operators and partners that work with U.S.-based screening programmes, this is also a reminder to plan for vendor risk. Teams should map what data is stored in vendor clouds, set a regular export process, and identify alternative hearing screening and audiology tools early, well before the September 2026 date.
