## Content

## In Short
- FlySafair has launched a new Johannesburg to Lusaka route between OR Tambo (JNB) and Kenneth Kaunda (LUN).
- Flights run five times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Starter fares are listed from R2,800 from Johannesburg and R3,000 from Lusaka, excluding surcharges.

## What Happened
[FlySafair](/flysafair) announced a new scheduled service connecting Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport and Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

The airline says the route is in response to sustained demand on the Johannesburg to Lusaka corridor. It expects a mix of business and leisure travel, including visits between South Africa and Zambia for family and friends.

The service operates five times weekly. The outbound flight departs Johannesburg at 07:50 and arrives in Lusaka at 09:50. The return flight departs Lusaka at 10:50 and arrives back at OR Tambo at 12:50.

FlySafair said fares start from R2,800 for JNB to LUN and R3,000 for LUN to JNB, excluding surcharges. Tickets are available via FlySafair’s website and mobile app.

## Why It Matters
Direct flights on high-traffic regional routes can affect both travel time and price. For founders, operators, and investors who move between hubs, more frequency usually means easier scheduling and fewer overnight stays.

Lusaka is also a practical gateway city for work and regional travel. It connects into Zambia’s tourism routes like Livingstone and Victoria Falls, and also to safari destinations such as South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi.

On the business side, Lusaka is a growing commercial centre for Southern and Central Africa. Cheaper and more reliable air links can support trade visits, field operations, and cross-border partnerships between South African and Zambian companies.
