## In Short
- Al-Futtaim and Fawry announced a strategic partnership to build an integrated digital commerce ecosystem at Cairo Festival City Mall.
- The plan connects payments, loyalty rewards, customer engagement tools, and flexible payments.
- A “Pay in 4” option, a buy now pay later plan split into four instalments, is expected to launch first at selected merchants.

## What Happened
Fawry, via [Fawry](/fawry), has signed a strategic partnership with Al-Futtaim to roll out a mall-wide digital commerce ecosystem at Cairo Festival City Mall in Egypt.

The companies said the programme will be delivered in phases. It aims to make checkout and loyalty more seamless for shoppers, while giving tenants tools to improve conversion, meaning turning visits into purchases, and to simplify payment operations.

A central piece is Blue, Al-Futtaim’s rewards and lifestyle platform. Shoppers will be able to earn and redeem points across participating stores, unlock personalised offers, and join campaigns that span retail, dining, and entertainment.

On the payments side, Fawry will provide acceptance and processing for participating tenants. Fawry said it serves 55.4 million active customers through 364,600 POS acceptance points, and processed 1.057 billion transactions, with EGP 5.22 billion in total revenues.

The partnership also includes plans for a Cairo Festival City Mall-focused flexible payment product under Blue. It will start with “Pay in 4” at selected merchants, with zero customer fees.

## Why It Matters
Large malls in Egypt still operate like collections of separate merchants, each with its own payment setup and loyalty scheme. A single commerce layer could make spend tracking, rewards, and promotions easier for customers.

For tenants, the value is not just taking more payment methods. It is access to loyalty-driven customer insights, meaning better data on who buys what and when, plus mall-wide campaigns that can bring repeat visits.

For Fawry, this is another step toward owning more of the offline retail stack. It ties its payments network to loyalty and buy now pay later tools, which can increase transaction volume and merchant stickiness over time.
