## In Short
Ecobank Group reported profit before tax (PBT) of $737 million for 9M26, up 12% year on year. Net revenue rose 12% to $2.0 billion.

## What Happened
[Ecobank](/ecobank) said profit attributable to ETI shareholders was $364 million, up 17%. Earnings per share (EPS) rose 15% to $0.0148, or 1.48 US cents.

The group reported return on average assets (ROA) of 2.0% and return on average tangible equity (ROTE) of 24.9%. Tangible book value per share (TBVPS) increased 25% to $0.0815, or 8.15 US cents.

Ecobank’s payment revenue rose 9% to $241 million. It said this was driven by wholesale payments, up 14% to $119 million, cards up 5% to $77 million, and remittances up 25% to $8.1 million. Payment revenue accounted for 12% of total revenue.

On efficiency, Ecobank reported a cost-to-income ratio (CIR) of 47.8%, down 20 basis points. Customer deposits grew 14% to $27.5 billion, and the group said current and savings accounts accounted for 85% of the total. Gross loans and advances to customers rose 6% to $12.9 billion.

For asset quality, CEO Jeremy Awori said the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio “remained broadly stable” at 7.5%, within the group’s 2026 target range of 6% to 8%.

## Why It Matters
Ecobank said 24.5% of total revenue was driven by “stable, recurring” fee and commission income, which can help reduce dependence on interest income.

The results also highlight wide performance differences across regions. Ecobank reported regional return on equity (ROE) of 35.9% in CESA, 28.0% in AWA, 22.4% in UEMOA, and 2.6% in Nigeria.

Awori flagged risks from “energy prices, inflation, and foreign exchange volatility” as the year continues.
