## Content

## In Short
EasyEquities shared a business update that points to faster growth in ETFs and bank-led investing partnerships. EasyETFs has crossed R2 billion in assets under management, and the Capitec channel is now over 228,000 funded accounts.

## What Happened
In a new update, [EasyEquities ](/easyequities) said its EasyETFs product has surpassed R2 billion in assets under management, meaning the total value of customer holdings inside those ETF portfolios.

The company also said its partnership with [Capitec Bank](/capitec-bank) has exceeded 228,000 funded accounts and R1 billion invested through the channel. A funded account is one that has money deposited and is ready to invest, not just opened.

EasyEquities also highlighted the previously announced partnership with [Absa](/absa). The plan is to give more than 12 million Absa clients access to investing through the Absa app. This is part of a wider trend where banks embed investing inside their main mobile app, instead of sending customers to a separate platform.

The update sits alongside broader growth metrics shared by Purple Group, EasyEquities’ parent, including client assets moving beyond R105 billion by year-end and active clients reaching 1.245 million. The company’s financial year ended on 31 August, with full results expected around 11 November.

## Why It Matters
For South Africa’s retail investing market, R2 billion in ETF assets is a signal that lower-fee, diversified products are gaining traction with everyday investors. ETFs, or exchange-traded funds, are baskets of shares that trade like a single share.

The Capitec and Absa partnerships matter because distribution is often the hardest part of consumer finance. If investing is placed next to everyday banking features like payments and savings, more people can start with small amounts.

It also shows which platforms can grow in a higher interest rate environment. When money is tighter, investors and customers tend to favor products with clear value, simple onboarding, and trusted channels.
