## Content

## In Short
- EasyEquities and Absa have announced a partnership to bring the EasyEquities investing experience into the Absa banking app.
- The in-app investing feature is expected to launch from September 2026.
- The companies say about 125,000 EasyEquities clients are already connected to Absa via their banking details.

## What Happened
[EasyEquities](/easyequities) is partnering with [Absa](/absa) to let customers start investing from inside the Absa app. The plan is to embed the EasyEquities experience directly in the bank’s digital channels, instead of making users download and switch between separate apps.

This is an example of embedded investing, which means investment tools are built into another product people already use, like a banking app. For many users, that reduces friction, since onboarding steps like linking a bank account and moving money can feel complex.

Both companies framed the deal as an extension of an existing overlap between their user bases. EasyEquities said around 125,000 of its clients are already connected to Absa through their banking details. It also said there are about 30,000 Absa shareholders and nearly 20,000 investors in Absa investment products who already use EasyEquities.

The integration is expected to go live from September 2026. The companies did not share pricing, product scope, or which asset types will be available at launch.

## Why It Matters
South Africa’s retail investing market is getting more competitive, and distribution is a key advantage. A large bank app can act as a high-traffic channel for first-time investors who might not search for a standalone investment app.

For EasyEquities, this partnership can reduce customer acquisition costs by meeting users where they already manage day-to-day money. For Absa, it adds an investing layer to its digital banking offering, which can improve retention and wallet share, meaning more of a customer’s financial activity stays with the bank.

If the launch goes smoothly, this deal could set a pattern other African banks and wealthtech platforms follow, especially where trust in banks is stronger than trust in newer finance brands.
