## Content

## In Short
CWG Plc has concluded the fifth edition of its TeXcellence Conference, TeXcellence 5.0.

The event focused on what is needed to turn technology use into sustainable economic value, including sustained investment in digital infrastructure.

## What Happened: What CWG Plc Covered At TeXcellence 5.0
CWG Plc held TeXcellence 5.0 at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos under the theme, “Accelerating Africa’s Digital Future.” The conference brought together business leaders, policymakers, technology practitioners and other stakeholders.

The programme examined practical demands of digital transformation, including enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, financial services, cybersecurity, talent development and the creative economy. Artificial intelligence is software that can learn from data to help with tasks like analysis and decision-making.

In his welcome address, Adewale Adeyipo, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CWG Plc, asked participants three questions, “Are we moving faster? Are we moving in the right direction? And is the force sustaining that progress strong enough to maintain it?”

Adeyipo said, “Africa has never suffered from a shortage of speed. What we’ve often lacked is direction and a sustained force.” He also linked innovation to dependable infrastructure that can support business operations, digital services and economic activity at scale.

He pointed to “approximately $4.1 billion” in funding for African technology companies in 2025, made up of equity and debt financing. He said debt made up a substantially larger share of the funding mix than it did in 2019, and argued that as financing grows, companies must show “financial discipline and operational capacity” to deliver consistently.

## Why It Matters: The Conference’s Main Message
TeXcellence 5.0 highlighted a recurring gap in Africa’s digital growth story, adoption is rising, but infrastructure and business fundamentals still determine whether that growth can last.

CWG said the fifth edition is a milestone for its flagship platform, which it positions as a forum for public and private sector stakeholders to examine opportunities and constraints shaping Africa’s technology ecosystem.
